Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has commented on the certain effects of the pre-season outbursts of the United manager Jose Mourinho on the club's players. He should know, having played for United from 2002 to 2014, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.
Ferdinand fears Jose Mourinho's mood will affect Manchester United's stars considering that the players would have taken the manager's comments to heart.
Hear the former central defender :
'There's too much negativity coming out of Manchester United at the moment.
'When you are part of a squad and you hear a lot of negativity and no positive sounds coming out of the person that is running your club — sitting on the outside it doesn't bode well.'
Ferdinand's opinion is that Mourinho may already have destabilised the 2018/19 season before it even starts.
He has moaned about what he believes is a lack of depth in his squad as well as the apparent failure of the club — namely executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward — to sign players he wants.
