For a manager who has twice won the Champions League, it makes little sense to criticise Jose Mourinho's record. However, for all his achievements, you may not believe that the Portuguese has never spent more than three seasons at any club.
He was at Porto from 2002 to 2004. It was there that he won the Champions League for the first time. Mourinho joined Chelsea in 2004 and he was there until 2007. Between 2008 and 2010, he was at Inter Milan where he lifted his second Champions League. After this, Real Madrid hired him and he was with the Spanish giants between 2010 and 2013. After Madrid, he began his second Chelsea reign. This was in 2013. At Chelsea, the third-season syndrome struck on the first day of the season with a strange outburst after club doctor Eva Carneiro raced onto the pitch to attend to Eden Hazard who had suffered an injury. Thereafter, Hazard's form nosedived and Chelsea were 16th, a point off the relegation zone, when the Portuguese was dismissed in December, 2015.
Mourinho has just started his third season at Manchester United. Surprisingly, it appeared the Red Devils' manager pressed the self-destruct button during pre-season when he exploded. He aimed thinly-veiled attacks at the board. This seemed to have unsettled the squad and the fans.
The proof that Mourinho's season has ran into problems is that the Red Devils have already lost twice this season. They were last night put to the sword by Tottenham.
