The jury arrived at its decision last night to convict Bill Cosby on three charges of aggravated assault against Andrea Constand, a woman 35 years his junior
How are the mighty fallen. A once beloved actor and comedian Bill Cosby has been found guilty of sexual assault.
Now, the chances are that the 80-year-old entertainer will spend the next ten years in prison.
Cosby has been released on bail pending sentencing. He was ordered not to leave the state of Pennsylvania.
Prosecutors had pressed charges on behalf of Ms Constand, 45, whom Cosby was accused of molesting at his home in 2004 after plying her with drugs. Ms Constand was incapacitated and therefore could not have consented, the jury decided.
Some other women who were alleged victims of the entertainer collapsed in tears outside the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
