The Smart Home : Running a home by iphone


Swedish building firm Trivselhus has created the first 'smart home' estate in the UK in Milton Keynes where properties come fitted with Apple technology allowing the resident to control a variety of functions from their iPhone including turning on the kettle, viewing CCTV footage and even unlocking the door. The creation of a new housing estate has been hailed because residents can control virtually everything that goes on at home via their smartphone.

The houses come fitted with Apple technology that allows a huge variety of household chores to be carried out hands free.

These and more are the features of the new 39-home development in Milton Keynes put in place by construction firm Trivselhus.

According to the Chief Executive of the firm:
'It's our mission at Trivselhus to develop family homes that have a positive impact on how people live.

'Technology is essential in easing people's lives, so it is important that moving forward family homes are designed with smart home technology at their fore.'


Trivselhus boss Ken Forster said the company was 'leading the way in tech-enabled housing developments that are affordable, efficient and future-proof', adding it was the first development of its kind in the UK


Flicking light switches on and off are also a thing of the past thanks to the smartphone technology which allow the householder to turn them on as they arrive at home in their cars
