As far as the pot-bellied tyrant of Pyongyang is concerned, the recent launch of the first international ballistic missile was an occasion to celebrate. He duly did so with a pop concert. To help him celebrate was the Moranbong Band, an all-female ensemble hand-picked by Kim. Songs performed at the concert included hits such as 'Song of Hwasong Rocket' and 'Make Others Envy Us.'

The concert, personally attended by Kim, was actually just one of the several special events organised to mark the successful test-firing of the Hwasong-14 rocket on July 4. The rocket is believed to be capable of reaching most of Alaska in the United States.
Straight-faced attendees applauded their leader on a number of occasions (Image: Reuters) Strangely, most of those who attended the concert which was played before a packed crowd were in uniform. The launch is being treated as a milestone in North Korea's history, with the government touting it as a breakthrough that few other nations have achieved. |
