Manchester United
manager Jose Mourinho
is just like Sir Alex
Ferguson, says
Ruud Gullit
Jose Mourinho has shown he is an authoritarian just
like Sir Alex Ferguson was in his incredible reign as
Manchester United boss, says Ruud Gullit.
Mourinho stepped into the hot seat last summer and
delivered two trophies in his first season as boss.
Ferguson won 24 major trophies in 27 years at Old
Trafford and United fans are convinced they have finally
found his true successor after four years of turmoil at the
club.
The United manager has adopted a hardline attitude
with his players and looks to set to ship out several former
stars during the summer.
And Dutch legend Gullit believes that shows Mourinho
is just like his illustrious predecessor.
‘You know what I like about this situation with Rooney,
that Mourinho is in power, he decides what is happening,
not the players,’ he told Football Focus.
‘That is what Ferguson did also.
‘He got rid of Jaap Stam – he regretted it,
but he got rid of him.
‘He also got rid of [David] Beckham when he thought
it was right, and I think that is the sign of a great manager.’
Wayne Rooney is in line to end his 13-year stay at United
after falling out of favour this season under Mourinho.
The striker remained the captain, but spent the campaign
looking on from the bench as Mourinho fazed him out
of the starting eleven.
Rooney reportedly have offers from China and the
Premier League and is expected to make an announcement
about his future in the coming weeks.
