Welcome to Chagos Islands. These are a group of seven atolls comprising more than 60 individual tropical islands in the Indian Ocean about 500 kilometres south of the Maldives archipelago. The islands occupy an area measuring 56 square kilometres.
The sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago is disputed between the United Kingdom and Mauritius.
On 25 February 2019, the International Court of Justice ruled that the United Kingdom is under an obligation to bring to an end to its administration of the Chagos Archipelago as rapidly as possible.
