Strange : Nigerian president denies being a clone
Nigerian President Mohammadu Buhari has rejected the suggestion that it is a clone of his real self that is presiding over the affairs of the African country
The rumour had been circulating for some time. This was that President Buhari of Nigeria had died and that a Sudanese imposter named Jubril was ruling in his place.
Speculation was rife over Buhari’s health after he asked the Nigerian parliament for extended medical leave in February 2017 to await results of a medical check-up in the UK. Although he eventually returned to Nigeria after an absence of 51 days, some people refused to believe that it was him.
To worsen the situation, he travelled to the UK once again for further medical tests in May 2017. He only travelled back to Nigeria in August, 104 days later.
The Nigerian leader addressed the rumours yesternight while speaking to Nigerians in a town hall meeting in Poland, where he is attending the UN COP24 climate summit in Katowice.
Hear the soldier-turned politician :
“It’s the real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong.
“A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health. Some even reached out to the vice president to consider them to be his deputy because they assumed I was dead.”
Buhari is seeking re-election in Nigeria’s general election in February.
