The US has come to the conclusion that the Russians were responsible for the Salisbury nerve agent attack. There is no doubt that this news would be music to the ears of the British government which has been making efforts to win support for its assertion that Russia was behind the attack in March on Sergei Skripal, 67, a former double agent, and his daughter Yulia, 33.
However, it does not end there as the Americans are to impose new sanctions on Russia for its gangsterism.
The measures were announced by the State Department, which said that Russia “has used chemical or biological weapons in violation of international law or has used lethal chemical or biological weapons against its own nationals”.
The sanctions, expected to be export bans on sensitive national security technology and goods to Russia, will take effect later this month.
