City made a statement of intent when they easily put Chelsea to the sword in the Community Shield
Manchester City still played with the swagger of champions even though the team were not firing on all cylinders. Please do not forget that it's only three weeks after the World Cup final. From all indications, however, it seems that the Premier League champions are ready for the new campaign.
The way Chelsea were brushed aside 2-0 sends an ominous message to the rest of the Premier League. This is considering that some of City's most dangerous players are yet to start pre-season training as a result of their exertions at the World Cup. By this I refer to Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.
After two years under Guardiola’s management, City are looking like a well-oiled machine. If the entertainers of Manchester are not to run away with the title again, other teams in the league will have to start thinking of how to deal with their brilliant menace.
