The boys and their coach pictured with a drawing of Saman Gunan who died working to rescue them
Volunteer diver Saman Gunan lost his life on 6 July while installing oxygen tanks in the flooded cave complex. Ironically, there was not enough oxygen for him on his way back from the flooded cave.
The 12 rescued young soccer players are mourning the former Navy Seal who died in the rescue operation.
On Saturday, the news of Gunan's death was broken to the boys and their 25-year-old coach. This was when doctors decided they were strong enough to process the news.
"All cried and expressed their condolences by writing messages on a drawing of Lieutenant Commander Saman and observed one minute of silence for him," according to Jedsada Chokdamrongsuk, permanent secretary at the health ministry.
