Donald and Melania Trump pose with Theresa and Philip May at Blenheim Palace
American president, Donald Trump, has attacked Theresa May's one leg in one leg out European strategy saying that it could kill a trade deal between Britain and the United States.
President Trump said at an interview:
“If they do a deal like that, we would be dealing with the European Union instead of dealing with the UK, so it will probably kill the deal.”
As far as the leader of the Free World is concerned, Brexit is Brexit.
Mrs May had attempted to convince voters and her own MPs that her proposals to keep Britain aligned to EU rules and tariffs still mean that it can strike deals with nations outside the bloc. Talk about efforts to try to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Not unexpectedly, president Trump's bold intervention was cheered by pro-Leave MPs.
