Although he is worth more than $20 billion, Tesla co-founder, Elon Musk has rejected the appellation. Rather than being called a billionaire, Musk would like to be referred to as a scientist and engineer.

He took particular exception to the way he was portrayed by BBC at the height of the Thai cave saga.

The broadcaster, who referred to Musk's fortune, had reported that Thai officials rejected as impractical his offer of a miniature submarine to reach the 12 boys and their football coach.

The 47-year-old businessman tweeted:
“Ironically, the ‘billionaire’ label, when used by media, is almost always meant to devalue & denigrate the subject. I wasn’t called that until my companies got to a certain size, but reality is that I still do the same science & engineering as before. Just the scale has changed.”
