The man who takes delight in feeding on the vanity of stars has disappeared after his latest adventure went wrong. There has yet been no sightings of Dr Furtado following the death of a woman hours after receiving injections to enlarge her bottom.
46-year-old Lilian Calixto, a manager with HSBC, had travelled to Rio de Janeiro to undergo the procedure at the home of renowned surgeon to the stars Dr Denis Furtado.
The surgeon, nicknamed Dr Bumbum, boasts of performing more than 8,000 butt enlargement surgeries, with the rich and famous among his clients.
Calixto, a married mother-of-two, was reported to have arrived at Furtado's apartment in the upmarket Barra da Tijuca district of Rio on Saturday night.
Shortly after she received the injections at 10pm, she reportedly fell ill and started gasping for air. Her condition was then said to have quickly deteriorated.
Shocked at the outcome, Furtado took her to the local Barra D'Or hospital, where she was admitted at 11pm in an 'extremely severe condition, unresponsive to manoeuvres'.
Despite the efforts of hospital staff, she died at 1am the next morning.
Sources at the hospital said that the surgeon inadvertently injected the product into one of Ms Calixto's arteries, resulting in the formation of a clot that would have ruptured in her heart.
