Neymar (far right) sweeps in to give Brazil the lead in their World Cup round-of-16 fixture against Mexico
On this evidence, the Brazilians may be the ones who will lift the trophy. This is because they have all what it takes to be the champions of the world: Strength in abundance, ruthless speed and technique.
Considering that their star man, Neymar, was subjected to some of the most cynical tackles in soccer, it was a miracle he lasted the 90 minutes.
It must be acknowledged however that the Mexicans were not a pushover themselves. They could have run over lesser opposition.
The match started powerfully, but shortly after half time Neymar slid in at the far post to poke Willian's cross into Guillermo Ochoa's goal and give Brazil the lead.
The exchanges continued as the Mexicans pressed for an equaliser. However, substitute Roberto Firmino settled the tie with two minutes left when he tapped in Neymar's pass to set up a quarter-final duel with Belgium or Japan, who meet later today.
