Mexico today shocked the defending champions by ensuring that the Germans lost their opening group F match at the ongoing 2018 World Cup. This famous victory by the Mexicans thus ended 33 years of pain, a period without a win against Germany.
Incredibly, there were reports that Mexicans celebrating the shock 1-0 victory over Germany caused a literal earthquake in the South American capital.
It was surprising that the exact timing of the artificial earthquake synced perfectly with the Mexico goal, according to SIMMSA - the body which monitors seismic activity in the country.
It claimed it recorded a tremor with a maximum acceleration of 37cm/s2. It was concluding therefore that the earthquake could have been caused by 'massive jumps' across the city.
