Sven-Goran Eriksson, erstwhile England coach, has put the boot in on Neymar, claiming the Brazil striker’s attitude stinks
The question on the lips of fans around the world is why pre-tournament favourites Brazil got their Russia 2018 campaign off to a miserable start. You may recall that they drew 1-1 with their Swiss Group E rivals in Rostov-on-Don on Sunday.
Their most famous and the world’s most expensive player Neymar, 26, was particularly below par, earning more headlines for the ten fouls he was on the receiving end of, and his questionable choice of a blonde ‘spaghetti-head’ haircut.
Former England boss Eriksson offered an opinion:
“I said before the tournament that Brazil should win this World Cup because they have the best squad, the best players, but I must say when I saw them I was not impressed.
“They played well for a few minutes, but many of their players didn't perform.
"They have one of the best players in the competition in Neymar, but he was very very poor.
“His attitude was not good. He was very loose with ball, dribbling with it, losing it.
“If Brazil wants to win the World Cup they need to show another attitude to the game, and Neymar too.
“He is a player who should win the World Cup for Brazil, with Brazil, but the performance against Switzerland was not good enough.”
