Trump-Kim summit under threat

North Korean diplomat accuses the US of attempting to overthrow the regime by treating it like that of Colonel Gaddafi, who was killed in an uprising backed by the West after halting Libya’s nuclear programme in 2003

Without a doubt, preparations are almost concluded for Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un to hold historic talks in Singapore on June 12.

Now, it appears the North Koreans may cancel the summit if the United States insists that the regime unilaterally surrenders its nuclear weapons.  Already, Pyongyang has cancelled a high-level meeting with South Korean officials that was due to take place today near the border.  The rogue regime is claiming that military drills by the US and South Korea were a rehearsal for a potential invasion.



A North Korean diplomat who defected to South Korea in 2016, Thae Yong-ho, said yesterday that the North Korean tyrant would never agree to American demands for “complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation.”  This is simply because that would “lead to the breakdown in North Korea’s core system of absolute power and the downfall of the leadership through the dismantling of nuclear weapons.”




North Korea has always seen its nuclear arsenal as a shield from the sort of western intervention that led to the removal of Colonel Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
