The Skripals were poisoned with novichok, a Russian-made nerve agent, in a probable attempt by the Kremlin to kill Mr Skripal. Investigators believe the toxin was smeared on the front door handle of Mr Skripal’s home on the outskirts of the city, which his daughter visited after arriving from Moscow on March 3.
