The much-expected unification showdown between four-belt World Heavyweight champion
Anthony Joshua and the WBC title holder Deontay Wilder may not be happening in the
Summer after all.
It is because the British fighter has been given 30 days by WBA to negotiate a fight
against his mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin. Povetkin is the number one
contender for Joshua’s WBA ‘super’ heavyweight belt.

It would be recalled that Povetkin brutally knocked out Britain’s David Price at the
Principality Stadium in Cardiff on the undercard of Joshua’s world heavyweight title
unification victory over Joseph Parker last month.
