Exit Barbara Bush : Former American president loses wife

Mrs Bush was a very popular first lady of the US who was both a devoted wife and a mother of a president

The former first lady was renowned for putting great emphasis on family values and universal literacy.

Mrs Bush was also strong, plain-speaking, gracious, compassionate and devoid of airs devoid of airs. She was nicknamed “the enforcer” by her family for her strict discipline, and “Silver Fox” for her snowy white hair.





She was also the complete opposite of Hillary Clinton, the ambitious young lawyer and controversial feminist who would succeed her as First Lady.



She was only the second woman to be the wife and mother of US presidents after Abigail Adams in the 18th century.
