Saudi Crown Prince signs deal

Britain has signed a deal with Saudi Arabia for the sale of 48 Eurofighter Typhoon jets

The business deal was signed yesterday by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to Britain and by Gavin Williamson, the defence secretary.  It is expected to be worth more than £5 billion.

BAE Systems’ share price rose after the sale of 48 jets to Saudi Arabia was made public

The deal is to provide continuing employment to 5,000 people working on the Typhoons.

BAE Systems’ share price rose within minutes of the announcement. Charles Woodburn, its chief executive, welcomed the deal. He said:
“We are committed to supporting the kingdom as it modernises the Saudi armed forces.”
