Tony, Ajay and Atul Gupta have fled South Africa. They have also denounced the corruption inquiry into their activities and their relationship with erstwhile president Jacob Zuma.
It is an indication that they will refuse to give evidence to a parliamentary inquiry into corruption allegations against them.
The brothers said that they were away on business and would not subject themselves to being “humiliated and belittled at the will of politicians”. They also denied any wrongdoing.
However, arrest warrants have been issued for the three, who are believed to have left the country shortly before police raided their home in Johannesburg last month. One of the brothers has been spotted in Dubai and their private jet has been tracked flying between India, Dubai and Russia.
In a letter produced by their lawyers, the brothers denounced the inquiry into alleged maladministration at state-owned power, defence and transport companies with which they were linked.
