The Chinese Office for National Defence Education has launched a campaign to encourage public support for the military. This means instilling respect among young people for revolutionaries who fought for the Communist Party.
It would also mean encouraging couples to pay homage to the party and its past achievements in their wedding ceremonies.
Newlyweds will be expected to lay flowers at cemeteries in honour of those who died for the communist cause.
The directive for newly-weds is part of a renewed ideological drive by President Xi. He is seeking to revive revolutionary traditions as a way of establishing the party’s absolute authority and creating loyalty among the public.
