Two guards have been killed in an attack on the Saudi royal palace in Jeddah.  The attacker has been identified as Mansour bin Hassan bin Ali bin al-fahid al-Amri, aged 28.

After getting out of his vehicle, he opened fire on the western gate of the palace, killing two members of the Saudi Royal Guard and wounding three others, according to a spokesman for the interior ministry.

The gunman was shot dead on the spot at the Al-Salam Palace on Saturday.

The attacker was carrying Kalashnikov rifles and Molotov cocktails.
