Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected a transfer to Chelsea as he holds out hope for a move to Liverpool, reports claim.
The versatile Arsenal star was on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge after Antonio Conte saw a £40million bid accepted for him but he has pulled the plug on a switch.
The England international is keen to develop as a central midfielder and believes Jurgen Klopp would utilise him in that role should he move to Anfield. Oxlade-Chamberlain is keen to avoid playing at right wing-back and fears Conte would use him in a similar role should he move across London, according to the BBC.
Liverpool have an offer on the table for the former Southampton ace but it is less than the bid Chelsea had submitted.
Should the Reds fail to secure a move for him, the 24-year-old is happy to see out his contract at the Emirates and leave on a free next summer.
Arsenal are keen for a deal to be wrapped up as soon as possible and the ball appears to be in Liverpool’s court.
