Sanchez holds secret
meeting with PSG ahead
of Arsenal exit
Paris Saint-Germain are increasingly confident
of signing Alexis Sanchez after holding talks
with the Arsenal forward in the French capital
this week, according to reports.
The 28-year-old is keen on leaving Arsenal
and sent a thinly-veiled message to the club
last week by expressing his desire to play
in the Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to meet
Neymar’s £198million release clause this week
but sporting director Antero Henrique has
been left to focus on a deal for Sanchez,
12 months to run on his existing deal at the
Emirates and, though Wenger’s publicly
insisted he’s not for sale, there is an acceptance
from the Gunners that they can do little
to prevent Sanchez’s departure if he pushes
to leave.
Though no deal is close to completition,
PSG believe they can bag Sanchez for around
£45m with add-ons, in what would be a sizeable
coup for Unai Emery’s side.
Arsenal are likely to demand more for the
Chile international but their hands could be
tied if Sanchez pushes to leave the club in
the dying stages of the window.
Wenger insisted the purchase of Alexandre
Lacazette was to compliment Sanchez but
it appears that the Chilean is yet to be
convinced by the Frenchman’s
plans at the club.
