BRITAIN'S NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIER FAILS TO IMPRESS RUSSIANS

The Russians refused to be impressed with 'Big Lizzie' as the new carrier is nicknamed
Britain's massive new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has been described as a sitting target.  According to Russia's defence ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov, ''The British aircraft carrier is nothing more than just a huge easy naval target.  The ecstatic statements of Michael Fallon about the exterior supremacy of the new aircraft carrier over Russia's Admiral Kuztensov warship demonstrate his absolute ignorance of the naval science.''

The general further added that Big Lizzie ''is capable of merely releasing planes from its womb being surrounded by a swarm of warships, support vessels and submarines to ensure its protection.''  

British Defence Secretary Sir Fallon had earlier compared Big Lizzie with Moscow's only dilapidated aircraft carrier.  He was not surprised at the unrestrained put-down by the Russian general.  Said Sir Fallon, 'I think the Russians will look at this ship with a little bit of envy.'
