Jose Mourinho aims dig at Chelsea ahead of Manchester United v Anderlecht
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho couldn’t resist another sly dig at his old club Chelsea in his programme notes ahead of tonight’s match against Anderlecht.
The Red Devils boss enjoyed a satisfying personal victory over the Blues at the weekend, with his side running out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford after losing both of their previous games against Antonio Conte’s men this season.
United now switch their focus onto making it into the Europa League semi-finals, but it seems Mourinho’s mind is still on the manner of the victory against the club that sacked him just over a year ago.
The Portuguese feels his players can take a great deal of confidence from the way they performed against Chelsea as they look to end a largely disappointing season on a high note.
‘It will do a lot for our players to see that the Premier League leaders just could not live with them at any point in the game,’ Mourinho said.
Whilst clearly trying to lift his squad, some may feel his words are a little over the top considering the ease with which Chelsea beat United 4-0 and 1-0 in their prior meetings this term.
