Chelsea want to sign Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez ahead of Alvaro Morata
Chelsea have abandoned their pursuit of Alvaro Morata as Antonio Conte looks to push through a summer swoop for Premier League due Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, reports claim.
Conte was thought to be keen on signing the Spaniard, with the 24-year-old thought to have his heart set on a move to the Premier League after failing to usurp Karim Benzema from the Real Madrid first XI.
Chelsea appeared to be the most likely destination for Morata and his relationship with Conte seemed to be a big selling point for a switch to Stamford Bridge.
But the Italian has decided that he would rather pursue Lukaku and Sanchez, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Everton attacker Lukaku, 23, has enjoyed a fantastic spell under Ronald Koeman this season, topping the Premier League scoring charts, and has been earmarked for a return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Sanchez, meanwhile, has grown frustrated at Arsenal’s inability to challenge for the title and is now set to force through a move away and he is thought to be keen on staying in London.
Morata has now emerged as a top target for Jose Mourinho, given Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s unfortunate long-term injury and he is now set to line-up against the Blues next season, rather than with them.
