Thibaut Courtois rules out Real Madrid move
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists he will not be joining Real Madrid this summer.
The Belgium international is reportedly on the Champions League holders’ shortlist to replace Keylor Navas at the end of the season along with Manchester United’s David De Gea.
Asked if he will be playing for Madrid next season, Courtois told Cadena SER: ‘No.
‘I don’t see myself at Real Madrid.
‘I see myself at Chelsea, the club that six years ago saw me playing in Belgium and gave me the opportunity to sign for them.
‘They also allowed me to be three years at Atletico, which helped me to be the keeper that I am now.
‘I feel that I’m key to the team, I’m very happy at Chelsea, and I don’t see myself anywhere else.’
Courtois, whose contract expires in 2019, reveals he has not be offered a new deal by Chelsea, but admits he would be open to extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
‘But for the time being, we have not spoken about a contract extension. We are focusing on the league,’ said the 24-year-old.
