USA, DONALD TRUMP AND THE LEADERSHIP OF THE FREE WORLD

The White House

The President-Elect and President Obama

In another three weeks, Donald Trump, as President of the United States of America, will become the most powerful man on the planet, being the leader of the free world.  Let's not forget that USA is the only genuine superpower in the world at the moment.  Whatever happens to or in America has a way of affecting the whole world.  Some have even said that whenever America sneezes, the rest of the world catches cold.  Most Americans, I like to believe, know that with leadership comes great responsibilities and high costs.  It is not unusual, sometimes, to refer to America, being the leader of the free world, as the Policeman of the world.  Personally, I believe this is a God-given responsibility.  Several other countries and peoples have performed this role during past eras: Egypt, Babylon, Rome, Greece and Persia.  The Almighty often raises nations for specific purposes.  The most important thing is for a nation to try and fulfil her prophetic destiny.

Therefore, hopefully, America will move gingerly to see how she can, with others, tackle the issues that currently face the world.  The problem of terrorism still rages.  Then there is the seeming menace of North Korea.  Also, America must definitely not allow Israel to be isolated and demonized by the rest of the world as the outgoing Administration seems to have been doing.  Similarly, the plight of the Palestinians must not be forgotten as they too are humans and part and parcel of the world for whom Christ died.

Russia has tried to fill the vacuum created by her decisive intervention in Syria.  Notably, America seemed to have withdrawn into her shell on account of her previous losses as the Policeman of the world.  This brings to mind the relationship between USA and Russia.  It is hoped that Trump will not allow himself to be outfoxed by Putin.

Trump and Obama

Considering Donald Trump's political inexperience, all Christians around the world need to constantly hold him up in prayer.  Hopefully, by the end of his sojourn in the White House, the word will be a safer place.
