US Presidency : Is the net finally closing in on Donald Trump?

Mr Trump’s behaviour of asking fellow world leaders to assist with his domestic political issues is fuelling allegations of an abuse of power


There is no doubt that the current occupier of the White House, Mr Trump, does things in unconventional ways. From all indications, it would also appear that the president believes he has the ability to manoeuvre himself out of any tight situation in which he may find himself, even if he was responsible for boxing himself into that tight corner in the first place.

Studying the American president closely reveals someone who believes he can achieve any goal he sets for himself using unconventional means if possible. You will recall how he became the American president. He was not a conventional politician but a businessman. Yet, he became the president by capitalising on the fact that most voters were fed up with conventional politicians.




Despite being new to politics, Mr Trump saw off, even in the Republican Party, people who had been in politics for decades. It is doubtful if Mrs Clinton will ever recover from the shock of her defeat to Mr Trump. The president uses his own methods and means to achieve whatever goals he sets for himself.





It is not that the Democrats are saints themselves. For example, the political history and records of the Clintons are there for anyone to check. They were only outfoxed by an opponent who was able to outsmart them.





However, after all things are considered, it is the considered opinion of this blog that the president may consider re-inventing himself so that he can change the way he does things. Already, his way of doing things has brought him legions of enemies, critics and detractors even within the Republican Party. It seems Mr Trump is dousing himself in petrol in full glare of people who are keen to roast him.




The president seems to be supplying the Democrats with the ammunition with which to remove him from office. Although the chances are that they will fail considering that the Republicans have a majority in the Senate. However, should they fail, they can make it extremely difficult for him to be re-elected. A point may come when Mr Trump himself is no longer able to arm-twist his way through his political vicissitudes.

Typically, the president has already tweeted that if the Democrats are successful in removing him from office, it will cause a Civil War in the country.



It has just come to light that Mr Trump made efforts to discredit Mr Mueller's inquiry. Officials have confirmed that the President called on the Australian prime minister to assist in investigating the origins of the Mueller inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

The inquiry, which concluded in May, revealed that Russia attempted to influence the result of the election in favour of the Republican Party. The outcome of the inquiry led to the prosecution of some of Mr Trump’s most senior aides.
