Marco Silva had overseen just one victory in Watford's 11 Premier League fixtures
The Portuguese had a brilliant start at Watford, but won only three Premier League games after asking to join Everton when Ronald Koeman was sacked at the end of October.
Watford launched a blistering attack on fellow Premier League club, Everton, for the loss of their manager. In a strongly worded statement released yesterday, the club blamed Silva’s sacking on “a significant deterioration in both focus and results” after Everton’s “unwarranted approach.” After an unacceptable run of one win in nine league matches, Southampton’s visit to Vicarage Road the weekend before last was tagged a must-win game but Watford could only draw, albeit showing spirit in coming from 2-0 down to equalise in the last minute.
Silva, who only joined Watford in May, became the eighth manager to be sacked by the Pozzo family in six years.

Silva's sacking was another proof that things can change very quickly in the Premier League. Here was a man who was widely praised after he led Watford to eighth position after 13 games and just four points off the top four places.
Gracia takes over a team in tenth place but just four points clear of the bottom three
The club moved quickly to appoint Javi Gracia as their head coach after sacking the Portuguese. Gracia signed an 18-month contract and will be in charge for the FA Cup fourth-round tie away to Southampton on Saturday.
