Truck is capable of sheltering up to 38 riot officers behind its 24ft main shield, which is bullet and fire-proof and can be expanded or retracted to fit any street
Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, seems to be ready to host the world after all.
He has come up with the weapon that will take on the hooligans intent on causing chaos at next year's World Cup finals. It is a gigantic police truck.
The 18-tonne anti-riot vehicle has been developed by Russia's largest arms manufacturer - the company behind the Kalashnikov rifle.
Hooliganism is seen as a major potential problem at the high profile event and the FSB (Federal Security Services) has revealed an unprecedented security clampdown to ensure it passes off peacefully.
It is hardly surprising that the Russians say they have learned lessons from the notorious Battle of Marseilles at Euro 2016 when English and Russian supporters clashed in appalling alcohol-fuelled hooligan carnage.
Alexey Krivoruchko, CEO of Kalashnikov Concern, the company that built the truck, said: "Multi-functional protection systems and other police equipment are being developed today in many countries around the world.
"The search for relevant solutions and work in new segments allowed us to create this platform.
"In addition to the Shield complex, we are also working to introduce new design solutions for wheeled armoured vehicles on the market both for the domestic market and for export supplies."
