A former doctor to the United States Olympics gymnastics team has, at last, pleaded guilty to sexual assault after being accused of molesting more than 100 young girls and women.

The chances are that 54-year-old Larry Nassar will spend a long time in jail after admitting sexually assaulting seven girls between 1998 and 2015.  The girls testified that he molested them, sometimes when a parent was present, after they sought treatment for gymnastics injuries.

Three of the charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involved girls under the age of 13; three applied to girls between 13 and 15.

Nassar was the USA Gymnastics team doctor at four Olympic games and also worked at the University of Michigan.
Addressing a courtroom in Michigan that was packed with his victims, he said,
''I'm so horribly sorry that this was like a match that turned into a forest fir out of control...I pray the rosary everyday for forgiveness.  I want them to heal.  I want the community to heal.''
