AMERICAN LEADER LAVISHES PRAISE ON DESERT KINGDOM
Having become the only American president to make a majority Muslim country, his first stop overseas, Donald Trump has delivered a glowing speech praising Saudi Arabia for its splendour and kindness.
Trump's praise of the Saudis was a clear departure from his bellicose stance when he was campaigning for the top job in America last year. In an electrifying debate with Hillary Clinton, these were the exact words of the president:
'Saudi Arabia and many of the countries that gave vast amounts of money to the Clinton Foundation want women as slaves. You talk about women and women's rights? These are people that kill women and treat women horribly, and yet you take their money.'
In sharp contrast, Trump has promised that the US would not 'seek to impose our way of life on others, but to outstretch our hands in the spirit of co-operation.'
