Today is World Theatre Day, which allows people around the world to celebrate performing arts.
Created in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute, the day is designed to draw attention to the power of the stage.
To celebrate the day, you may like to see a play, offer free tickets to your theatre, write a play of your own, or pay tribute to a playwright.
There are many spectacular theatres around the world – here are some of the best.
