Under the microscope : FBI zeroes in woman who was fulcrum of Jeffrey Epstein's scandal

Considering that the FBI has a responsibility to combat public corruption at all levels, it is hardly surprising that it is investigating associates of Jeffrey Epstein. You may recall that the Jewish-American was charged with the sex trafficking of minors in July. Strangely, he was found dead in his prison cell in New York the following month. He was judged to have committed suicide.

However, the FBI has refused to accept that the millionaire's death has brought the case to an end.
The intelligence and security outfit is now looking into “people who facilitated” the alleged crimes of Epstein.

Ghislaine Maxwell, who was the former girlfriend of the late financier, is the principal focus of the investigation.

 

Years earlier, Maxwell was accused in civil proceedings of acting as the financier's “madam” and of “recruiting, maintaining . . . and trafficking girls for Epstein.”

She strongly denied the allegations. She maintained that she managed Epstein’s properties and occasionally helped him to find “adult professional massage therapists”. 

The FBI would probably have held fire but for the fact that after Epstein’s death, several women have said that they were abused by the billionaire. They also accused Ms Maxwell of recruiting them.
