Leicester City FC owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was killed when his helicopter exploded within seconds of taking off from the pitch



Death interrupts and puts an end to everything earthly. Glory, fame, plans, ambitions, ties, stardom, popularity and desires. Who would have thought that Leicester City FC owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, would be reduced to ashes within moments of watching his beloved team earn a draw playing against West Ham on Saturday 27th October, 2018. His aircraft had failed shortly after taking off. Well, such are the ways of man. Here now, gone the next moment.

The owner, the two pilots and the owner's two assistants died in the accident


The Thai billionaire will always be remembered for achieving the impossible with Leicester FC. The club, against all odds, won the Premier League title in 2016. This may not be fully appreciated until one realises that Leicester was playing in the same league with the giants of the game like Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham. The club was languishing in the Championship only a few years earlier.

The Psalmist teaches us in Psalm 90 verse 12, 'So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom.' However, the sad reality is that most people refuse to even think about death or number their days. They live as if they are going to be here forever. The truth, as everyone knows, is that no human has a permanent home here.

For a truly saved, redeemed soul, death is the celebration of new life. However, for an unsaved soul, to die is to be ushered into 'the land of sunless gloom as intense darkness, (the land) of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as thick darkness.' Job 10 : 22
