The unrelenting fires of California

Unbelievably, huge fires continue to rage across California leaving human and material devastations in their wake.

As a result of the inferno, more than 38,000 people have been forced to flee their homes since Thursday. Significantly, the Carr fire has grown to nearly 150 square miles, about 150 miles north of Sacramento.

In certain places the fires have burnt so fiercely they have created winds strong enough to uproot trees. So far, more than 850 buildings have been destroyed.
