Silicon Valley company, Twitter, has appointed Mrs Okonjo-Iweala, a former Nigeria minister of finance, to its board of directors.
Okonjo-Iweala had served under President Obasanjo from 2003 to 2006 and also under President Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015.
With the Nigerian's appointment, Twitter's 10-member board now has three women.
The company has often been criticised for not being inclusive enough.
