Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona coach, has been named manager after Spain's shambolic World Cup campaign. The Spanish have keen to get a new man in place after Fernando Hierro left the position.

48-year-old Enrique has been without a job since leaving the Barcelona in 2017. He has enjoyed a deserved break from management in the past year taking part in numerous cycling events including the Costa Blanca Bike Race in January.

Enrique was always expected to return to management at some stage. He was linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea jobs this summer. Also, he had, in the past, expressed an interest in managing his country.

The new Spain manager started working as a manager in 2008 with Barcelona B, before moving to Roma three years later. In the 2013–14 season he managed Celta.  However, he returned to Barcelona and won the treble in his first year and the double in his second.
