Elon Musk apologises for attack

It is safe to say that British caves expert, Vernon Unsworth, engineered the spat by deriding the tech billionaire's offer of help in retrieving the trapped Thai cave boys.

Mr Musk, the Paypal and Tesla electric car tycoon, had flown to Thailand with a hastily built submarine in which to carry the boys out of the cave. However, his offer was politely rejected.

In an interview with CNN, Mr Unsworth dismissed Musk's mini-submarine as impractical and accused the billionaire of staging a PR stunt.  He added, “He can stick his submarine where it hurts.”

Apparently, Mr Musk was livid.  He responded by posting a series of tweets, referring to Mr Unsworth as “pedo guy.” This was perhaps on the basis that Unsworth is a westerner who has spent many years in Thailand. Musk later deleted the tweets but the damage had been done.

Mr Musk has now apologised for his angry outburst. The billionaire said that he was upset after the British caver told him to “stick his submarine where it hurts.”

On Twitter yesterday, Mr Musk said that his words had been “spoken in anger” after Mr Unsworth “suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness & according to specifications from the dive team leader.”

Responding to Mr Musk’s remarks however, Mr Unsworth, 63, said that he had not received a personal apology.  He added, “He basically hasn’t said it to me personally. At the moment I can’t say anything because it’s still a very delicate subject, as you can appreciate.”
