Yuya Osako heads the winner for Japan in the match against Colombia
In their opening group H match at Mordovia Arena on June 19, 2018 in Saransk, Japan defeated Colombia by two goals to one.
Early in the match the South American side were reduced to ten men after midfielder Carlos Sanchez handled the ball in the penalty area. Shinji Kagawa then gave Japan the lead from the penalty spot.

Despite the fact that his side were playing with ten men, Juan Quintero brought Colombia level as half-time approached.
However, Yuya Osako had the final say when he came up with the winner in the closing stages of the proceedings.
