Humiliating the poor : Mastercard's goal for food initiative

Image result for mastercard

Mastercard is to donate 10,000 meals to starving children every time footballers Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr score

Mastercard, the financial services company, must be commended for contributing immensely to the UN's World Food Programme (WFP).

It was to this end that the company and WFP announced a joint 100 Million Meals global initiative last year. This was aimed at raising significant funds and meals for those in need around the world.

I believe where Mastercard seemed to have missed it was linking the number of meals they could provide with the number of goals scored by Messi and Naymar Jn between now and 2020.

Messi and Neymar will be playing for Argentina and Brazil at the World Cup in Russia.

It may be that Mastercard are trying to get some publicity through this dodgy initiative considering that this is a World Cup year.

However, most people would say that the directors of Mastercard need not wait until some soccer stars score goals before they donate meals to those who desperately need them.
