The head of the Anglican church in America will give the address at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church, is to deliver the sermon at the wedding.  The decision was made after the couple discussed whom to select with Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

A Palace spokesperson said:
“The couple made the choice together. [Curry] is not personally known to them, but he is known to the Archbishop of Canterbury. The couple discussed a number of possibilities for a preacher with the archbishop and because he is the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church [the liberal Anglican church in America] and a great public speaker and preacher, it was considered that he would be an appropriate figure to speak at the wedding.”
