Amazon founder Jeff Bezos now tops Forbes billionaires list

Jeff Bezos has now overtaken Bill Gates to become the world’s richest man for the first time.  The Amazon founder has amassed a fortune of £81 billion ($112 billion).

Going by the 2018 billionaire’s ranking from Forbes, Bezos' fortune has increased by a whopping £28 billion ($39.2 billion) from 2017 - the biggest one-year gain ever.

Microsoft’s Gates, who has been the richest person in the world for 18 of the past 24 years, took second place with a fortune of £64.8 billion ($90 billion), up from £62 billion ($86 billion) last year.

Veteran US investor Warren Buffett, worth £60 billion ($84 billion), falls to the number three spot.
