Alexis Sanchez confesses : It has been hard

Chile forward Sánchez is puzzled that he has only scored once in ten appearances for Manchester United

For a player who is on a total package of £600,000 per week, you would ordinarily have expected Alexis Sanchez to do better.  However, this has not happened as the striker's performances so far have been disappointing.



Sánchez was so enraged at his return of only one goal in his opening ten games that he considered skipping international duty for Chile this week to stay in Manchester to work on his game.

“The change of club for me has been hard.

“I had doubts about whether to report for the national team.  The coach told me that he would give me permission to miss it if I wanted to, but I thought about it hard and I said it’s better to be here, all united.”

His manager at United, Jose Mourinho, has raised concerns about Sánchez’s confidence and positional discipline and the player himself concedes his start has been disappointing.

One positive for Sánchez is that he has developed a rapport with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the former Sweden striker who has also endured a difficult season at Old Trafford.
