Mourinho to sign a new £65 million contract at Manchester United

The United Board have been so impressed with the Portuguese tactician that they have offered him a new five-year deal, our sources report.

Even though the manager's £250,000 basic salary per week remains the same, his performance related add-ons are to be improved significantly as part of the new package.

Mourinho signed a three-year contract when he joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2016. He has now indicated that he is willing to extend his stay at the club.

In his first season in charge, the Portuguese led United to success in the Europa League and the EFL Cup. This season he has hit the ground running as he targets the Premier League. The Manchester club have also won their first two games in the Champions League convincingly.

The United boss said in an interview last month, 'I can say I would like to stay many years.'
